It's about having a friend traveling
with you on the journey.

Financial coaching is for anyone. Even you.

Simply put, a financial coach is someone who helps you get or stay financially healthy. Do you really need a financial coach? You might if:
  • You're starting your first job, need help creating a realistic budget, or trying to get out of debt.
  • You want to save money for an emergency, a house, the kids' college, or retirement.
  • You have family, lifestyle, educational, or business goals but need guidance financially to reach them.
  • You have a unique financial situation or opportunity and need an impartial friend to help.
In other words, no matter the situation, a financial coach is for anyone. Even you.

If you're saying, "Yes! I need that!" Then let's do this. Today.

Talking about money can be an awkward or shameful thing. Because of that, the most important part of financial coaching is not downloading information in your brain. It's caring well for you. Plain and simple.

Now, what's the coaching process like? We'll start with a comprehensive look at your financial situation. I want to understand your concerns and needs, as well as your immediate and future goals and dreams. Together, we'll design a budget and action plan that's customized for you. You'll have tangible action-steps the minute you leave our first meeting. From there on out, I'll be your biggest encourager as you improve or continue your financial health.

Give me a call at 402-381-3756 or drop me an email with questions or to ask about how much financial coaching costs. If you are in the Lincoln, Nebraska, area, I'd love to coach you in-person. Somewhere else? We can meet via phone, FaceTime, Skype, or Google Hangouts.

You have questions. Go ahead. Ask away.

Why not just take a class (like FPU) or read a book to get financial coaching?
You should absolutely take advantage of every possible avenue to learn about personal finance. The difference financial coaching makes is that it takes the raw information you get in a class or book and relates it personally to you and your context. Simply put, financial coaching is customized to your family, your situation, your fears, your dreams. No two clients are the same. No two coaching sessions are the same. So yes, read the book, watch the lecture! But know that you may need to go one step further to see personal growth.

What's the difference between a financial coach and a financial advisor?
A financial coach is someone who teaches and trains clients in the basics of personal finance and serves as an impartial friend and guide in their client's financial journey. A financial advisor, on the other hand, is someone who helps clients grow their money through investing and protect their assets with insurance. Advisors need to be licensed because they sell financial products. Many advisors also make a commission on selling these products.

Coaches and advisors, therefore, play different roles and, in many situations, both may be necessary. If you work with me as a financial coach, I'll make sure you get connected to a financial advisor you can trust.
